At the goading of the ominous and omnipresent Leading Player, Pippin, the eldest son of King Charlemagne, samples life's pleasures to discover his place in the world and the meaning of his life. Release: At the very end when asked how he feels, Pippin says, "Trapped, which isn't bad for the end of a musical comedy." The line was written "Trapped, but happy, which isn't..." but director/choreographer Bob Fosse changed it. It was fought out and today, the original version of the line appears in the play.
